TYPE OF DECK: Based on the teachings of the Golden Dawn Order.

ARTISTIC STYLE: Simple comic book style drawings, with coloring that gives a textural richness not usually seen in comic books.

DECK BOOKLET: 28 page booklet with notes on the Golden Dawn, a layout created by the order and interpretations of each card. This is one of your better deck booklets.

BOOK: There is a companion book written by Robert Wang titled "An Introduction to the Golden Dawn Tarot."

SHUFFLE-ABILITY: Fairly easy to shuffle, although more difficult if you have small hands, because its length is borderline. (8 x 12.7 cm)

QUALITY OF PRINTING: Very high quality. The cards have a plastic coating which makes them easy to handle and be kept in good condition.

ADDITIONAL SYMBOL SYSTEM: The deck includes two extra reference cards with the Golden Dawn attributions of the cards to the Kabbalah, the Tree of Life, the astrological signs, the elements and planets.

ACCESSORIES / PACKAGE: Three additional blank cards are included. The package is the standard "box with flap" type; adequate protection for the cards.

BEST POINTS: A very well organized and thought out symbol system. It is the Golden Dawn system afterall.

WORST POINTS: Many of the symbols may be obscure to those not familiar with the Golden Dawn Order and its initiations.

REVIEWER'S COMMENTS: I like to read with this deck. The Major Arcana cards are not cluttered while retaining many symbols. Graphically, they are very strong in their impact and nicely colored. The colors carry symbolic meaning as well. The pip cards are of the abstract variety, with some symbolism, but difficult to use for people used to the scene depictions of some other decks. I personally prefer the numerically based pip cards because they do not restrict interpretations to a particular scene and meaning, although they do take longer to get acquainted with.
