Section 2. First Level Initiate.

(This section is begun after passing an examination of the material in Section 1.)

a. Initiate the student into the ‘‘First Rite’’ as delineated by The Lycian Sanctuary.

b. Memorize the Group Opening.

c. Memorize the first initiation; a copy of which will be given to you after your initiation ceremony.

d. Memorize the Wheel(also be able to draw it accurately in complete detail); know its basic myth, understand why everything is located where it is on it.

e. Write a paper of at least ten typed double spaced pages making comparisons between the wheel and common myths in a variety of cultures (use material from the reading list below as reference).

f. Have the brother or sister select a skill, strongly associated with the Wiccan Craft, in which to become proficient e.g. cartomancy, geomancy, pyromancy, scrying, facilitating visualization, etc.

g. Test the initiate for competence by having him or her demonstrate, without any outside help, the First Initiation and give an open lecture on the Wheel of the Year and the archetypal mythology associated with it while providing specific examples from a variety of cultural contexts. ( If a coven is available, then this should take place before as many of the membership as possible, that are first level initiates or higher.)
